Making easy wooden stamps for clay - Relaxing springtime at the cabin!
Переглядів 4962 місяці тому
Hej hej! Here's a video from spring last year - gosh I can't wait to go back there soon, that was such a nice day! Here I'm making some simple stamps from branches, that I use for my ceramics - while hanging out with Milo the doggo at my parents cabin. Feel free to give me input about the video - for example should I have added music/a soundtrack? Hmm. I would love get a good mic for the camera...

Wow. Question. Were the edges glazed where the wadding made contact?

    • @nymla

No there's no glaze on the edges, if I remember correctly there was a bit of iron oxide wash brushed on the edges :)

I am amazed at all through the various dips and brushing of glazing... this wonderful piece of ceramics turns out brilliantly. I think for so many of us watching, ours would be mud coloured, the whole thing. Definitely watching a master artist. 😊

@@nymla I was just meming a little, but that's cute. Ah, yes! There it is! 2:57 And the whole area seems heaven on Earth. The birds, the wind through the trees, the heavy boulder walls. I'm jealous, but also sure none of it is wasted on you. I'll bet the place is overrun with trolls and gnomes at night!

@@Xsuprio As a crazy dog lady I take what chances I get to talk about this dog xD Yess its so nice there, especially in early spring when its warm but still not been invaded by mosquitos! Honestly I do wish I had my own place in the woods because often there's lots of people there and my social battery is so limited 😅But I am so grateful this place is in the family, thankful to my grandparents who once bought that place, so I can go there sometimes to get away from the city! Although they are taking down a lot of forest in the area:( As you see nothing is perfect so don't be too jealous:P But yes, that day in the cabin was amazing and I hope for many more for me and that you get that feeling too!

I love your video. If the aluminum hasn't completely melted, it means that the temperature reached didn't exceed 660º. It's a low firing temperature for clay. I recommend that you use the same clay to make a small bowl with a lid, then put all the pieces inside, placing layers of sawdust or chopped charcoal. This way, the pieces will be protected and instead of using a BBQ, you could make an oven, perhaps by digging into the ground and with a chimney to increase the airflow by convection. This way, when the bowl is covered with charcoal, it will heat up and prevent a sudden temperature change inside the pieces, and similarly when cooling down.

Loving the way you are experimenting. I have tried doing same in my garden burn up pile of rose prunings , used banana skins in my sagar. the burn up pile was super hot with white ash so my expeimental pot fired in no time at all in black and grey colours. Didnt know what to expect but seeing your beautiful work has inspired me to try it again. thank you for sharing.
